A Career Built on Leadership and Relationships

Meet Scott Schneider, Senior Project Manager at Brown Construction. With over nine years at Brown, Scott leads projects from early design through construction and final turnover, supporting both church and commercial construction projects. His role centers on leadership, clear communication, and building strong relationships that carry projects from concept to completion.

Before joining Brown Construction, Scott spent ten years working in Los Angeles, gaining experience as a field engineer, assistant project manager, and project manager. He studied Construction Management at Texas State University, developing a strong foundation that continues to shape his approach today.

Finding Brown Construction and Returning to NE

Scott and his wife Alyssa were looking to move back to Nebraska to be closer to family when he discovered Brown Construction during a job search in Kearney. “I was drawn to the company’s strong culture, the opportunity to work on meaningful community projects, and the emphasis on relationships and service,” Scott shared.

What Scott Does as a Senior Project Manager

In his current role, Scott coordinates closely with architects, engineers, and subcontractors. His days include reviewing drawings, planning field sequencing, solving problems, and maintaining clear communication across teams. While he visits job sites as needed, much of his work focuses on planning ahead and keeping projects aligned.

“At the core, it’s about problem-solving and communication,” Scott said.

Projects That Made a Lasting Impact

One of Scott’s most meaningful projects at Brown Construction was First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas. “It was a great client, a great superintendent, and required a lot of detailed coordination,” Scott explained. “Seeing the impact it made on their church was incredibly rewarding.”

Growing Through Challenges and Experience

One of Scott’s biggest challenges has been managing projects from a distance due to travel. Over time, he’s learned to stay highly organized, work ahead, ask better questions, and never make assumptions — skills that have strengthened his leadership and project outcomes.

Scott is especially proud of the relationships he’s built with Owners, subcontractors, and teammates, as well as his contributions toward improving internal processes, scopes, and schedules.

Inside the Brown Construction Culture

Scott describes Brown Construction’s culture as professional, family-oriented, and faith-driven. “We care about people and we work well together,” he shared.

The Brown Construction values that resonate most with Scott are integrity, stewardship, and relationships. “Our work has long-term impact, whether it’s for a church, a business, or a community organization.”

Scott credits several leaders as key influences during his time at Brown, including Brett for leadership and communication, along with Todd, Dustin, and Mike for shaping different areas of how he works.

Life Outside the Jobsite

Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife Alyssa, their two children — an 8-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son — and their dog, Dotty. He enjoys music, being outdoors, home projects, church involvement, and family time.

A fun fact many people may not know: Scott has recorded music for years and played drums in multiple bands, with albums recorded in Austin and Los Angeles.

Looking Ahead: The Future at Brown Construction

Looking ahead, Scott hopes to continue growing in leadership and potentially take on more preconstruction or design-focused responsibilities. He’s especially excited about improved collaboration between design and construction teams, better planning tools, and creating long-lasting, flexible church spaces.

His advice for those just starting at Brown Construction is simple:

“Ask questions early, stay organized, communicate clearly, and understand the why behind decisions.”

Why Scott Believes in Brown Construction

Reflecting on his time at Brown, Scott says flexibility and trust have made a lasting impact — allowing him to manage projects across distances while staying rooted locally.

“Seeing a client walk through their completed space and imagine how it will serve their people and community — that’s when I know why I work here,” Scott shared.

He adds, “Brown truly cares about the clients we serve. Our projects are partnerships, not transactions, and that makes a difference in both the process and the final product.”
